Spiritual Humor Show Introduction

[Music with narrator introduction to the show]

Addison: Greetings to all of our listeners. On behalf of the Inner Illumination Team, I would like to say welcome to our new show. With me in the studio today are Lindsey and Catharsis, both good associates of mine. Please say hello to the audience.

Lindsey: Hello audience and may you enjoy the show.

Catharsis: Welcome brave souls.

Addison: Why would they be brave souls?

Catharsis: Anyone listening to this show probably is brave since it often takes an open mind to hearing new perspectives on what many people see only in a customary way. I bet some of our listeners are listening incognito and not telling anyone what they are doing. They may even be hanging out underneath their desks or in a closet right at this moment.

Lindsey: You might be stretching it a bit there Catharsis, but that is part of what makes you interesting to people. However, I do agree with you that some of our views may cause people to question themselves and the way they do things. That is part of what the show is about.

Addison: That brings up a good point. Most of our listeners are here for the first time, and quite naturally want to know what this show is about. The Inner Illumination Show serves to shine a spotlight, or to illuminate, what it is like to be a human in various aspects of living life.

Through talk and acting out scenarios in skits, we will view life from many interesting angles. The idea is to show how things often are and how they could or might be different. At the same time, we desire that you smile and even have a good laugh.

Most of the team members come from different viewpoints, as well as different countries. For instance, Catharsis is a psychotherapist; Lindsey is a grad student in psychology; Shannon is a biologist from Wales; and so forth. There will certainly be a variety of perspectives to help make the show interesting.

Before we get into the stretching of things, or otherwise, now may be a good time to lay down some guidelines for the show.

Catharsis: Addison, you know I don't like rules! I play by my own tune and always have. Living within someone else's rules always feels too claustrophobic to me.

Addison: The guidelines will not be that constricting and they are required to meet the FCC guidelines, as well as Team standards, on appropriate language used…as well as to help keep certain emotions within reasonable bounds…so as not to overly offend our guests and listeners.

  1. We strive to be neutral concerning politics and religion.
  2. While we will try to avoid using real names of people in our skits, if you can figure out who they are then so be it.
  3. Our purpose is to explore ideas, not to necessarily attack or support those who have them.
  4. All curse words will be bleeped out.
  5. The show is a clean one and will be appropriate for listening to by most people.

Lindsey: Are those all of the guidelines?

Addison: Those should be a good start.

Catharsis: Good, with the guidelines as they are, I still have plenty of room to annoy, frustrate, confuse, irritate, challenge and play the Devil's Advocate with any guests we may have on the show.

Lindsey: I have no doubt that you will Catharsis.

Addison: Over time, we will have all of our team members in the studio to introduce themselves so that our audience can get better acquainted with them. As far as the show's format we are always open to new ideas for skits and how the make the show more interesting. If any of our listeners have any such suggestions, then please feel free to email us through the website you are listening to this at. For now, let's go ahead and listen to our latest skits.
